Looking down at a town in the middle of nowhere.  You would be surprised how rural much of Maui is.  One of the fun things along Hana Hwy is the number of food stands where they sell fresh baked goods, Hawaiian Ice and fruit.  The banana bread is killer, the Hawaiian ice is awesome over a scoop of vanilla ice cream (the sweetened ice creates a sugary crisp layer over the ice cream – kind of like when you have a root beer float), and the fruit is to die for.  Fresh pineapples, mangos, papayas, avocados – yum! Produce is like no other in Maui.  Maui sweet corn is particularly good.  They even have fruit stands on the honor system – you grab what you want, and leave money in a jar.
