Zion Canyon, 2007

Every once in a while you need to get away for a long weekend. One of the best ways we can do that here in Phoenix is to head north into Utah for a couple of days around the Grand Staircase. For this vacation, we went up to Zion Canyon for 3 days, then headed over to Las Vegas for a night a fun before coming home.

Hawaii

Hawaii

Paradise. Absolute paradise. That is the only way to describe Maui. We went to Hawaii for a week to celebrate our 4th anniversary, and we were both hugely surprised at how much we enjoyed it. Prior to getting there we expected that we would end up bored for part of the trip, but that never happened. As it is, we were busy almost every day and actually would have liked another day or 2 of relaxation before coming back. Somehow we managed to fit in snorkeling, 2 catamaran cruises, swimming with dolphins, visiting Pearl Harbor, and taking the long Road to Hana.

I Did It!! Half-Marathon, Whole Insanity

This past Sunday, I ran my first race, which happened to be the P.F. Cheng’s Rock n’ Roll 1/2 marathon. Many of you know I was planning on doing this race, but not many knew I was actually initially planning on dropping out because of my lack of training for the past two months.

Italy

Italy

What an experience - our first foreign vacation. We were there for 10 days and visited Milan, Florence, the Cinque Terre, Rome (including Vatican City), and Venice. Each of the cities was in a different region, and they are just as different from each other as the regions in the various regions in the US. They all have their own regional foods, pace of life, and atmosphere. They all do have some things in common though: amazing art, architecture, and scenery. While we did see a lot, there is still so much left that we haven't seen. Next time we visit we want to check out Naples, Pompeii, Reggio di Calabria (at tip of the boot), and Sicily, but still leave some time to go back to Florence and the Cinque Terre.
