Magerealm

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic - Arthur C. Clarke

A sophisticated heat beam which we called a 'LASER'

Through the miracles of science, I now have 20/20 vision for the first time in over 18 years.  It is a very weird feeling to be able to see normally without glasses, and even more bizarre if you consider how it was actually accomplished.  No, I don't mean the part about changing the optics of the eye.  That part makes perfect sense, and is how you would go about fixing a broken camera lens.  What I mean is the idea of burning off the top layer of the eye to do the correction.  Who would have thought to actually try that?  And beyond that, who would have been willing to volunteer for the initial trial?  I sure don't know of anyone that would sign up for the following:

Would you like to have better vision? Come be part of a trial for laser vision correction. During the procedure, we will burn part of your eye off so that it more correctly resembles a rounded lens.  Possible complications include <insert really long list of bad things here>, including permanent blindness.

I do still have some double vision at distance, but my middle range and close vision is excellent.  I hope/expect the distance issue to go away as my eyes finish healing.
